Lead Teacher
Location: Yellow Brick Academy
Description: The Lead Teacher will: • Provide care and create a warm, safe learning environment for children of all abilities indoors and outdoors. • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities for children following the established curriculum. • Create lesson plans and weekly block plans in line with curriculum • Prioritize child safety and make sound judgment calls • Communicate with parents/guardians verbally daily and in writing as needed • Follow policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of children, including adherence to WI DCF 251 licensing regulations • Assist with ongoing cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of surfaces. • Attend required staff meetings
Required Education/Skills
Completed WI DCF 251 requirements for a lead teacher • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crawl, run, and perform any other movements required to model and engage in play and learning activities with children. • Ability to lift and/or carry children as needed to provide care, as well as aid in emergency situations. • Clear verbal and written communication skills. • Willingness to work with children and families from a variety of backgrounds and abilities. changes in classes each semester, etc.)
Preferred Education/Skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Special Education • Experience working with children of a variety of backgrounds and abilities • Coursework in Psychology, Early Childhood, Special Education, and/or Human Development • CPR/1st Aid certification (required within three months of hire) • Current Child Abuse and Neglect Training (required before beginning work with children) • Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Training (required before beginning work with children) • Member of the Wisconsin Registry (required within 6 months of hire)
