Assistant Teacher

Description: Job Description
Provide compassionate care for children of all abilities. • Implement developmentally appropriate learning activities in individual, small group, and large group settings • Prioritize child safety and make sound judgment calls • Communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults • Follow policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of children, including adherence to WI DCF 251 licensing regulations • Help prepare classroom materials as directed by the lead teacher. • Assist with ongoing cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of surfaces. • Complete required documentation in compliance with WI DCF 251 administrative code
Required Education/Skills
Be at least 18 years of age • High School Diploma or equivalent • Eligibility to work in the United States • Ability to successfully pass a caregiver background check • Able to complete DCF 251 required health form, courses, trainings, certifications, and membership on the Wisconsin Registry within specified timeframes as determined in the administrative code • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crawl, run, and perform any other movements required to model and engage in play and learning activities with children.
Preferred Education/Skills
Experience working with children of a variety of backgrounds and abilities • CPR/1st Aid certification (required within three months of hire) • Current Child Abuse and Neglect Training (required before beginning work with children) • Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Training (required before beginning work with children) • Member of the Wisconsin Registry (required within 6 months of hire) • Coursework in Psychology, Early Childhood, Special Education, and/or Human Development
